Welcome to Day Two!

I am so glad you are here for our second day!

Now that we have covered studying the Bible for our heads, we are going to dive into Bible study with our hearts.  As we study the Bible, we are not just gaining knowledge, but we are getting to know who God is on the pages of His Word.  I am praying for you today as you are going through these lessons, and I cannot wait to hear how The Lord reveals Himself to you!

Day Two Welcome

Prayer and Bible Study for the Emotionally Drained

LaToya is a single, homeschooling mama to 4 boys. After walking through abuse, divorce and loss she determined to help other Christian women walk fearlessly through hard times. She equips women to pray bold prayers, walk with bold faith and heal from past hurts knowing God is with them every step of the way!

In this session, Latoya discusses how hardship in her life drove to a deep study of scripture and praying, and she learned specific tools along the way. She teaches practical ways to pray, even in the midst of busy seasons. Her biggest point is to remember that prayer is just a conversation, you can be extremely raw and honest, and that there is no points for how well you pray. LaToya discusses how you don't need to feel some magical emotional moment every time you go to study scripture, instead, make it a discipline that you continue to go to even when your emotions lag behind.

Cultivating a Desire for Personal Bible Study

Jenny Erlingsson is an author, speaker, wife to a handsome Viking from Iceland, and mother to four equally cute and fierce mocha drops. After receiving a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Social Work, Jenny spent twelve years in pastoral ministry at The Rock FWC in Huntsville, Alabama. In 2018, her family followed the call of God to move to and serve in Iceland. Her desire is to help others break the fear of man off their lives so they can walk out their calling with beauty and boldness

In this conversation, Jenny talks about the importance of filling your head with scripture and detoxing from everything else that may fight for your attention. She also discusses the importance of filling yourself first while studying the word instead of always looking at your study time as a way to fill others. She gives pointers for those just starting on their Bible study journey, such as immersing yourself in the story by using a children's Bible.

Reading the Bible in Community

Janine Lansing is a speaker, author, and faith encourager. She helps women live in the Spirit, linger with Jesus, and love God's Word so they can make it through their day and transform into the likeness of Christ. Janine lives with her husband and four kids in Los Angeles.

In this session, Janine discusses the importance of studying scripture in community, and how for her specifically that helped propel her forward in personal study. Hearing what others are gleaning from a passage can be enlightening in your own personal and private study, and Janine explains that having both times of study can be filling and give you a stronger desire to study the word yourself. She emphasizes consistency; that no matter how you feel, you must continually show up and be in the word, and that that habit will build discipline and bear great fruit in the future.

Studying Scripture in the Midst of Mental Illness

Jennifer Holmes is a wife, mom, speaker, and writer who also happens to have Bipolar II and she’s exploring how mental health and faith intersect. She has over ten years experience teaching the Bible, a Biblical Counseling certificate from CCEF and is currently working on her master’s in Biblical Counseling at Westminster Theological Seminary. You can find her most often on Instagram and she has resources waiting for you on her website.

In this conversation, Jen discusses how she needs the truth of God's word to continually wash over her in order to stay anchored in the midst of her mental illness. One of her tips is to study the Psalms as they are a rich source of comfort and can be easier to digest during times of emotional burden. She gives practical tips for studying the Psalms and a general breakdown for how most Psalms are formatted for better understanding.

Developing Consistency in Scripture

Sarah E. Frazer is a writer and Bible study mentor at sarahefrazer.com. Sarah is the wife of Jason and mother of five. She and her family serve as full-time missionaries in Honduras. Her passion is to encourage women to start today with a Bible reading and prayer habit. Sarah is the author of several self-published Bible study resources for women.

In this conversation, Sarah discusses the importance of setting aside dedicated time to be in God's word, and disciplining yourself to focus and not succumb to distractions during that time. She shares a couple tools she uses in order to focus in on her Bible reading amidst the busyness that is raising 5 children. One tip she explains is, when you get behind on your reading, how to start fresh the next day, and to not let a missed day discourage you into continually neglecting your study. She also shares practical steps to take what you're learning in God's word and how relate that to who He is on a personal level.
