Light and Truth

Jan 28, 2019

Send your light and your truth; let them lead me.

Let them bring me to your holy mountain,

To your dwelling place.

Then I will come to the altar of God,

To God, my greatest joy.

Psalm 43:3-4a CSB

I long for this to be my prayer. That God would become my greatest joy, and that I would be led by God’s light and truth. So often in life I am led by other things:

Fears

Anxiety

Depression

Other people’s opinions

Anger

Emotions

The desire for control

But I don’t want to be led by that - I want to be rooted and grounded in the light and truth of Jesus, my Lord. I want my mind to be renewed in this light and truth, and I want to be transformed and unstained.

God’s light and truth are constant. They do not waver. They do not change like the shifting shadows. They can be trusted. I can trust God.

When anxiety strikes, send your light and your truth.

When the world is against me, send your light and your truth.

When I am not sure what my next right step is, send your light and your truth.

When all is calm, still send your light and your truth.

When everything around me is spinning out of control, send your light and your truth.

When someone I love gets a less than desirable diagnosis, send your light and your truth.

When joy surrounds me, even then send your light and your truth.

In every situation, may my prayer be, God, send your light and your truth to lead me. I don’t want something that will shift with shadows, but instead I want your constant light, and your unfailing truth to be my guide. In every situation, may I see through the filter of your light and your truth.

What is guiding you today?

Ask God for His light and His truth. It will lead the way.
